I've put this little shop up on the shelf for several months so I could take care of some life responsibilities recently. I know I am not alone in feeling guilty when you have to put creativity on the backburner to address what's needs your attention. Nonetheless, I have been letting my thoughts ponder on what I want this shop to become in the next year. This month marks the first full year of Heart of Thistle and Clover, and it has grown in ways I could never imagine. It has brought the best folks into my life. And that is all because of you!
Today I had an idea...albeit vulnerable, it's scary enough because of the impact it could create. One I am ecstatic about.
We can all agree that this climate in which we are navigating life has been and will continue to throw us into the fire (if not literally too). I dream about the times past when as a culture relied on each other to help get through difficult or even mundane times.
I keep asking myself, "How I can cultivate that?".
Enter: the sewing circle.
I remember when my Grandmother would get together at the community center with her friends and they would all work on the quilts they were making. They had tea (actual tea and neighborhood "tea"), snacks, and most of all...they had community. Actual sewing circles have been a cornerstone of community and villages throughout all of history. I will spare the deep-dive rabbit hole I went down researching this (I welcome all reading recommendations)... However, THIS is what I want to bring to Heart of Thistle and Clover.
Monthly virtual get-togethers where we work on our crafts (sewing or otherwise), chat, laugh and discuss what is important to you! Even if you just want to drop by and sip some tea with me and see what I am working on... all are welcome!
